Are You Covered?

Introduction:
A. Insurance is something that most of us would usually just as soon not think about. It costs too much and doesn't cover nearly what we believe it should. Many times, because of the expense involved people forgo the purchase of insurance and hope that they never need it.

B. But the fact is that while many will go through life without any kind of insurance, there will come a time when it is needed. It might be an automobile wreck, a catastrophic illness or a fire, but whatever it is, the time will come.

C. The same is true of your life. You are going to need insurance because you are going to die. If it sounds as if I am trying to sell you insurance, you are right. But the insurance I am trying to sell you is not for physical things, life, health, home, or auto, but something much more important, yet probably the most uninsured part of most lives, the soul.

I. Day Will Come To Need Insurance

A. God has set a day for passing judgment - 2 Pet 3:10-13
B. Insurance will be necessary for all because of sin - Rom 3:10-20,23; 1 Jn 1:10
C. Those without insurance will suffer the consequences of that loss - 2 Thess 1:7-9; Heb 10:29-31

II. How Do I Get This Insurance?

A. Now that you see the need - 1 Thess 5:3
B. Our insurance is underwritten by the blood of Jesus - Col 1:20-22; Eph 2:13-16
C. Available to all - 1 Jn 2:1-2

1. Must qualify

a. Belief in Christ - Jn. 8:24
b. Repentance - Lk 13:3
c. Confession - Matt 10:32
d. Baptism - Gal. 3:26-27

2. Must keep the policy in force

a. Service - 1 Cor 15:58; Rom 12:1,2; Col 1:23
b. Keeping pure - Matt 5:8, Jas 1:27
c. Faithfulness - Rev 2:10; Matt 24:13

III. Is My Coverage Adequate?

A. Does not cover

1. Those who do not hear Christ - Acts 3:23
2. The disobedient - 2 Thess 1:7-9
3. "Faith only" - Jas 2:24
4. Moses law keepers - Gal 5:4
5. The fearful, murderers - Rev. 21:8
6. Those who cause division - Rom 16:17
7. Those who deny Christ - Matt 10:32

B. Is adequate for purpose intended - Rom 5:20-21; 1 Tim 1:12-14; Phil 3:8-16

Conclusion:
A. Are you protected if your life should end today?
B. Have you applied for the policy offered by God?
